Tash Mahal, the new boutique hotel addition to the hip Alacati scene offers the type of happiness that no amount of retail therapy can ever achieve.
Once a great mansion built by a Greek family of wine merchants, the 150 year-old stone building was painstakingly restored by the current owners, who turned it into a magical place.
The hotel has only eight rooms and offers gorgeous breakfasts made from locally-sourced food served in bed or wherever you fancy. Go there in early summer and watch plums and other fruits from hotel’s own garden cooked into delicious jam under the sun by Fidan Abla, the cutesy in-house cook; or lemons squeezed into home-made lemonade.
All the rooms are different and open to wonderful vistas of the mosaic-cladded courtyard. (And no TV in sight.)
