Armed with Style

It’s nice to accessorise according to your mood: Some days you’re sure to fire with a sniper rifle; others, you wake up just knowing it’s gonna be a hand grenade day.

New York based Turkish designer Aslı Filinta creates peculiar pieces of fashion, many with interchangeable elements which allow you to indulge your fashion impulses: like her beret range, featuring a small plastic soldier armed with a variety of detachable weapons.

Aslı moved to New York where she studied at the prestigious Parson’s Design School.  Vowing never to forget her Turkish roots, she sometimes quite literally includes them in her designs (See her T-shirts featuring lace sections from her granny’s tablecloth.)

Super cool fedora‘s with big, shiny feathers on them and staple tees tweeked with glitzy oriental accessories offer unconventional style for the anti-confirmist, commitment-phobic filinta (her last name means ‘handsome as a short-barreled gun’).    

Luckily, you know that it won’t ‘backfire’.
