Kiva Han Restaurant
Monday: Thai. Tuesday: Indian. Wednesday: Sichuanese. Thursday: Mexican. Friday: Sumatran.
Why not consider going back to your roots once in a while?
Kiva Han, a new restaurant set in a beautifully restored period building right by Galata Tower takes you all the way to Central Asia. (Kiva comes from the name of the city where Uzbek owners of the place hails from).
Inspired by various Turkic civilisations such as Seljuks, the menu reflects the best of countryside cuisine with impossible names. Start with Dul Avrat Çorbası of Adana region; made from noodles, lentil, chickpeas and tomato. Continue with Ispanak Borani; a specialty of Antakya, cooked with lamb chops, quince, spices and pomegranate sauce; or try Tıklama, a delicious mix of chicken, garlic, ginger, cardamom and honey.
Too much meat for your vegetarian eyes? How about Sarma with dried plum or Kırmızı Bacak Otu? (Don’t ask where this last one came from).
All served with maximum speed before you can say ‘bebek panggang hijau*’
* Grilled or roasted duck.
