Foot Candy
Manolo Blahnik S/S 2008
Ah, shoes and women… Even Cindrella knew the importance of a good pair to bag the prince (in her case, glass slippers). Or she’d still be scrubbing the floors.
When it comes to seriously fun shoes, there’s one name every Goddess worships: Manolo Blahnik.
His Spring/Summer 08 collection, which went on sale a few weeks ago, bears familiar names such as Aksham, Bocek, Bu, Bogaz; and inspirations like the curved windows from his recent visit to Hagia Sophia, drinking fresh mint tea, eating rose-scented lokoum on a terrace overlooking Bosphorus.
The Manolos in the collection all have a twist: a teaspoon becomes a sole, a nail’s transformed into an elegant heel. With attention to such miniscule details and a focus on ankles and the back (not just the front), the shoes magically make your ankles slimmer, legs longer and backs a lot sexier.
Sweet as a lokoum, don’t you think?
Available at Manolo Blahnik in Harvey Nichols, Kanyon, Buyukdere Cad. 185, Levent. 0212 319 11 76.
