Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck): Come on, princess. Take a little time for yourself….live dangerously.
Princess Anne (Audrey Hepburn): OK, but this isn’t even Spanish Steps.
JB: But it’s the next best thing. You see, Girandola, the new Italian ice cream shop on the waterfront, offers not only great views of Bosphorus, but the real gelato (not phoney wannabes) to die for.
The owner Asli Eraltan trained at Italy’s equivalent of Ice Cream University. Everything’s hand-made and seasonal; she cooks the milk and syrup herself, and uses only in-season ingredients (i.e. no melon flavour until July).
PA: What about other flavours?
JB: Plenty. Green apple, tiramisu, white coffee, whiskey chocolate…You can also have your custom-made flavours like basil and tomato; even with raki.
Final scene: The two lovebirds enjoy the guiltless gelati under the sunshine, of which there’s more than necessary recently.
