Past Imperfect
Yalos Driftwood Designs
Otto is a handsome, sensitive, neo-Goth dog with an identity crisis.
Collected from the beaches of Alanya, he was put together by two artists, Filiz and Christiane, with an impossibly big imagination and a keen sense of raw aesthetics.
The two friends scour the beaches of Alanya everyday and use what they find to create an ‘imperfect’ beauty already shaped by nature (they don’t carve or cut or change the wood in any way), as is the case with Otto.
Their designs include, obviously, sea-themed objects like fish and boats; but animals like birds, cats, pigs and dogs; or purely imaginary ones like angels—and even the odd Don Quixote—feature as well.
Shephards, invalids, circus figures, dervishes and many more interesting characters accompany this collection, alongside the more ‘conventional’ objects like mirrors, necklaces and brooches, all made from this most unconventional material, the driftwood (or ‘yalos’ in local dialect).
Simply the well-thought gift for a boho chick who loves all things unique and hates to see anything wasted.
