Secret Indulgence
Totally Wrong Drinks
Feeling under the weather these days? Bring on more booze!
Turkish ‘Eggnog’ Latte
50 ml espresso
50 ml salep
Milk for frothing (3% works best)
Heat salep on stove for a few minutes until piping hot. (Salep doesn’t froth well in a frothing machine because of its high solid and milk fat content). Froth the milk according to your machine for a latte (less foam, more milk); mix in heated salep, and add a shot of espresso.
Totally rich, indulgent and wrong (shouldn’t Starbucks know about this?).

Hot Toddy
A hot toddy is an alcoholic concoction made to ‘take the chill off things’ when you’re sick or shivering.
2 measures Scotch whisky
3 measures herbal tea (or just boiled water)
1/2 measure lemon juice
1 teaspoon honey (or brown sugar)
1 slice lemon, studded with cloves
ground nutmeg
Put the sugar, lemon juice, and clove-studded lemon in your mug. Add the Scotch and pour in the herbal tea (or boiled water). Stir to dissolve the sugar and sprinkle with ground nutmeg.
Be sure to drink it hot, as cold toddy (and alcohol cools fast) is revolting.
