Alternative Plans

Galata Şifahanesi

Models, actresses and the rich may have made detox, yoga and other vanities sexy recently, yet they were once the domain of tofu-eating, rasta-haired hippies who played wind music and praised the power of uterus.  (So what?)

In between running from an appointment with your acupuncturist to another one with your African tribal dance teacher, stop by Galata Şifahanesi.

The place is a shrine dedicated to all things alternative.  Everything’s covered from homeopathy, meridien therapy, NLP, holotropic breathwork and authentic movement (well, something to do with moving to the music) to life coaching and exploring family history to find out how you became so %&!x’ed up.

There are one-to-one consultations for all ages, including a child development seminar by a Montessori-trained teacher, and the prices are sure to bring a smile on your face.

While you munch on that organic dried mango, visit a dance workshop by Erdem Gündüz due to start in April, or follow the aptly-named Kendini Tanı seminars.

All showing the path to that great spiritual state: having a thinner waist.
