Joke Queen Restaurant & Bar
Being a queen is no easy job: Telling endless stream of suitors to back off, while waxing every other day and having the whites of your eyes whitened in between.
Then you’ll feel at home at Joke Queen, the new restaurant & bar from the incredibly talented Mr. Çapa, which opened officially last week. (Peace and Respect to the man, whether you like his venues or not).
Like other members in the Joke family of misfits (It’s A…in Nişantaşı and, most recently, Perestroyka in Akaretler), this little sister is set to cause mayhem.
Although the lavish interior complete with chandeliers and other decadent details courtesy of A46—also behind that recent Orient-Express themed private party at Sirkeci Garı—is worthy of diva treatment for the dining and dancing queens, the real treat is the outside patio area with lit-up tables in neon colours and a VW Beetle van reminiscent of the ’/60s flower power era.
The bar—converted from the said van—serves cocktails created just for the occasion and so fitting to the name: Hippie and Vosvos Martini, just to mention two.
‘Let them eat cake’, for we’re happy to linger around with our drinks in hand.
