Danger: Take Covva
Covva Aperativo Party
Some people just ‘loove’ to be the centre of attention: that teenager who drew a giant phallic symbol on his parents’ roof to lure Google Earth (it paid off); those who follow the transparent trend; and Courtney Love, who was named ‘Woman of the Year’ at the recent Elle Style Awards. (What credentials do you need for that, exactly?)
Others head to Aperativo Party at Covva, an unashamedly posh brasserie bang in the middle of chichi Nişantaşı.
Three times a week, the place runs happy hour and various themed parties organised by entertainment guru Melisa Çakarlar of Devrialem fame—the last one was a Cuba salsa night.
The party menu consists of simple finger food type apperatives, but should you decide to linger on through the night, they also serve a proper course of grilled veggie plate for starters; and for mains, T-bone steak with mushroom risotto, served with wheat salad of spinach, artichoke hearts and parmesan cheese.
There’s also a whole list of desserts to top it off with a large dose of guilt: try chestnut souffle with almond tuile and vanilla ice cream, or something simple yet explosive like pudding with mastic and almond krokan.
Whatever you do, be sure to check out your roof before you head out…
Covva Brasserie. Maçka Cad. 16/c, Nişantaşı. 0212 296 02 11. covva.com.tr. Happy hour and party every Tue., Wed., and Thurs. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
