Laundromat Concept Store Opens
Your grandma would want you to be this ‘wholesome and clean’, with more regular visits to the laundromat.
It suddenly got a whole lot easier and more appealing!
Laundromat, a new shop co-owned by designers Öykü Thurston and Yasemin Özeri, opens today in (where else) Galata.
Öykü previously ran the Çukurcuma store art.i.choke—a place for natural clothing with felt infusions, all rather beautifully clean. Similarly, co-ownwer Yasemin is no stranger to fashion that borders along less is more.
Possessing the two sharpest sets of eyes in eclectic fashion, the duo chose to collaborate with Devran Mursaloğlu (paper objects), Nahide Büyükkaymakçı (leather goods and bags), Kudret Saka (men’s knitwear, and t-shirt), Güneş Derecioğlu (bags) and Elif Ergin (casual wear with a hint of haute couture sophistication) for the first run.
There’s no set rules on who’ll be featured next—so imagine the same level of excitement as when playing online bingo with complete strangers—except that the stock will change every three months; hence the reference to a busy laundromat.
