Food Matters

Kırıntı Bebek Opens

You’re in Bebek:
-Midpoint: Too posh.
-The House Café: Is it us or has it lost its lustre?
-Abbas the Waffle Shop: Way too calorific.

Fear not, for the legendary Kırıntı (of Moda, the ‘Cadde’ and Nişantaşı fame, in that order) has finally met the shores of Bosphorus with its new venue in Bebek, which opened yesterday.

Designed by the venerable architects Han Tümertekin and Zehra Uçar, the place has a summer resort vibe with its huge veranda overlooking the park, not to forget nice details like the water-plant wall (hugely popular) and a menu designed like a magazine with real features in it.

You will hardly have time to browse its pages, though.  The food (catering to organic, dietetic and other varieties) is the work of their experienced kitchen staff, some of whom have been with them since their start in 1981 when Michael Jackson was ‘Bad’ (as if he’s better today).

You’ll eat it to its last ‘kırıntı’.
