At the Academy Awards Ceremony, Kodak Theatre, Hollywood.
You: Oh God!…I’m so sorry Kate, Meryl, Anne, Angelina… Oh God! Who’s the other one? Melissa…Forgive me. Gather! Is this really happening? OK. Thank you so much. Ahhh. Thank you sooo much. Gather! (Cue in: Please wrap up). You have no idea how much I’m not wrapping up.
Thank you to the members of the Academy. But most of all, I want to thank my beautiful and talented mentor Leyla Yılmaz. I remember the first day I walked into her Fikri Görsel Sanatlar Atölyesi for the acting workshop. I’d always dreamed of becoming an actor, but life threw me in another direction.
Until one day, I had the courage to sign up to Fikri. I owe so much to all the wonderful people and tutors there who helped me hone my drama skills. The result is pretty obvious, isn’t it?
And Leo (Di Caprio), I love you. I’ve loved you for 13 years. My God. Thank you soo much…
