You majored in marine biology, but ended up working on dry land—as an estate agent.
Sometimes life really is a box of chocolate and you never know what you get.
Such was the case of Aslı Güler, who originally studied city planning and archeology at college, before eventually falling in love with fabrics.
Granddaughter of a well-known seamstress and a graduate of Central St. Martin’s (and yes, they all seem to come out of this breeding ground), Aslı has in the past designed for various labels like the British heavyweights Topshop and Monsoon, as well as the more specialist Victoria’s Secret and Mexx.
Her designs combine ultimate romance with smart and contemporary details—like puffball sleeves and lace on a contrasting nautical-theme.
Choose a lace top from Grandma’s Closet, a collection inspired from a visit to Venice. Or a frilly jersey from the aptly-named Edgy Romantic standing out (or blending in, depending on how you look at it) with its soft pastel colours.
