Librarian Chic

DesignLibrary Istanbul

Cold, dark and spooky:
-Your room (which you need to clean this weekend, btw)
-The space—as seen in the latest Star Trek movie
-Iranian idea of democracy

Back in May, we had reported about the imminent Istanbul Design Week/end, hoping that it wouldn’t yet again be cancelled at the last minute.  Well, you’re lucky, for tomorrow sees the launch of this much awaited event.

In accordance with the day’s line up of festivities, the opening party is being held, of all the places, in an old-hat-factory-turned-library.

But this is like no place filled with smelly old books and a mean-eyed librarian watching your every move.  The world’s foremost information resource centre dedicated to design has so far only been in Milan and Shanghai.  Now, it’s to open its third branch right here in Istanbul.  Although you have to wait till September to get your hands on the many books, DVD’s, magazines and other resources, it’s well worth it, considering the multi-functional use of this space for lectures and other design-related events.

Just be quiet…
