When it comes to spectacular places to store our books, architect/designer Serhan Gurkan is on the case. After a marked presence in Istanbul Design Week 09, the founding member of Istanbul’s GMG In/Ex is a man in demand.
The mad and marvellous (and now famous) plexiglass and oak bookcase called ‘Golden Ratio’, bent metal origami and glass tables, and a metamorphic love stool table are all genius designs that have grabbed attention, second year running, at Milan Design Week.
Now he’s creating more international waves with the new Mukarnas range – a talented, playful and perplexing furniture collection that has been recognised from I.D. Magazine to Dutch Vogue.
Based on the ancient mathematical principles and modified for modern settings, it’s bound to get further broadcast…
