Tricky Treats

Halloween Tips

Hear ya, hear ya, all ghosts, goblins and ghouls… Are you readyyyy for spooktacular bashes? We certainly are!

Here are the latest tricks from our Halloween Headquarters…

Pumpkin Ring Toss
Objective: Just what it says on the label: to toss a ring around a pumpkin
Preparation: Four pumpkins with witch’s hats on them.  Plus, three or four rings about twice as big around as the pumpkins.
The Game: Measure back several feet, depending on age group. Give the rings to the player. Award prize for ringing the pumpkin.

And don’t forget:
- Small children should never carve pumpkins. Instead of carving they can use icing as a glue and decorate their pumpkins with a variety of Halloween candies, sprinkles, jimmies, gummies etc.
- Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and Trick-or-Treat bags for greater visibility.
- When shopping for costumes, wigs and accessories, look for and purchase those with a label clearly indicating that they are flame resistant.
- If a sword, cane, or stick is a part of your child’s costume, make sure it is not sharp or too long. These accessories if s/he stumbles or trips may easily hurt a child.
- A good meal prior to parties and trick-or-treating will discourage children from filling up on Halloween treats.
- Consider purchasing non-food treats for those who visit your home, such as arts& crafts kits or pretend & play accessories.

Warning: Beware that this is written by a pumpkin head. Read on at your own risk!
