Young and Restless
OMC Design
Onur Müştak Çobanlı is a young furniture and graphics designer from Politecnico di Milano.
Although he’s yet to graduate (by the end of this year, hopefully), his designs under the eponymous OMC label are already making big waves on anything from furniture to sneakers.
Take his geometric Tsoffa Bir armchair. Inspired by 19’/60s sc-fi movies, it looks more like something fit for those who are quirky, stylish, enraged and perhaps cross-eyed with a big nose—so the Big Bad Wolf’s getting one.
Being a member of generation Z, Onur was never satisfied with his drawing board and carpenter’s tools, so he also ventured into the challenging world of internet start-ups.
His work took him far (to Tokyo, where he worked on neo-traditional Japanese designs). And near (the sO company—a business design and investment venture he founded with like-minded individuals to work on projects like ‘focusabacus’—a global real estate helper; and ‘taksicagir.com’—a much bigger helper for those times when you can’t remember that x%&!’ing cab company’s number).
Their motto? ‘We do something interesting, or we don’t do it at all’ and ‘We work if we feel like it’.
We knew you’d be hooked.
